I believe almost every person carries at least one story they want to tell or preserve. It may be joyful, funny, painful, historic, deeply personal, or simply a memory that should not disappear.

I am beginning work on a free website where ordinary people can write, preserve and share the stories that shaped their lives. The final name and web address have not been chosen. For now, I am calling it The Story Project.

Tell Your Story

Perhaps you have a story about childhood, family, love, loss, military service, travel, work, survival, faith, friendship, a turning point—or one unforgettable day.

You may want to write it yourself, speak it aloud, preserve it for your family, or share it publicly. I want to learn what would make such a place comfortable, useful and trustworthy for you.

Help Build the Place

A project like this will need more than a website. It will need thoughtful listeners, writers, editors, moderators, nonprofit advisers, technical helpers, fundraisers, community partners and people who simply believe the idea is worth pursuing.

You do not have to know exactly how you could help. Tell me what interests you, what experience you have, or what you think the project should become.
